Where to Find Santa in Quebec City

Last Updated on November 15, 2024 by Pamela MacNaughtan

If you’re a lover of all things Christmas, then making time to see Santa is high on your holiday season bucket list. Whether you’re travelling to Quebec City with kids, with a partner, or solo, seeing Santa at Christmas time can be a lot of fun. Including people like myself who enjoy watching others get swept away in the magic and beauty of the holiday season.

Here is where Santa will be hanging out during the Christmas in Quebec City.

Laurier Québec

[Nov 16th to Dec 24th]

Laurier Québec is one of the best shopping malls in Quebec City; and a short bus ride (bus #11) from Old Quebec. Shops include Old Navy, American Eagle, Aerie, 1850, and BestBuy; restaurants, and banks. It’s a great place for a little Christmas shopping, and visiting Santa. You can wait in line from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm or make an appointment – which I highly recommend!

Address: 2700, boulevard Laurier • Santa’s Schedule: Mon-Fri 12pm to 3pm and 4pm to 8pm; Sat-Sun 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm • Photo pkgs available starting at 12.99 CAD

Galeries de la Capitale

[Nov 16th to Dec 24th]

Another great shopping mall in Quebec City is Galeries de la Capitale, which is kind of like the West Edmonton Mall of Quebec, but better! Aside from having a fabulous array of stores and restaurants, it’s also home to Mega Parc, an indoor amusement park (with a crazy awesome ice skating track). During Christmas in Quebec City Santa will be at Mega Parc, ready to hear everyone’s holiday wishes. Yay! Appointments can be made here.

Address: 5401, boulevard des Galeries • Santa’s Schedule: (Dec only) Mon-Wed 10am-12pm, 12:30pm-2:30pm; (Nov & Dec) Thurs & Fri 10am-12:30pm, 1:30pm-5pm, 6pm-8pm; Sat 9am-12pm, 1pm-5pm; Sun 10am-12pm, 1pm-5pm. Dec 24th 10am-12:30pm, 1:30pm-5pm.

Marché de Noël allemand de Québec

[Nov 23rd to Dec 23rd]

The Quebec City German Christmas market is the highlight of the holiday season. Naturally, a Christmas market is not complete unless Santa makes an appearance. Marché de Noël allemand de Québec will be in Old Quebec City from November 21st to December 23rd, 2024. It’s filled with small chalets with artisanal foods and locally made souvenirs, live music, Santa’s castle {across the street from Château Frontenac), and more! It’s fabulous.

Address: rue Saint-Louis and rue Sainte-Anne • Santa’s Schedule: Saturdays, Sundays, and Monday, December 23rd from 11am to 1pm.

Le Grand Marché de Québec

[Dec 8th & 15th]

In the neighbourhood of Limoilou, next to the Vidéotron Centre, is Le Grand Marché de Québec, a wonderful farmer’s market. This gorgeous market is flooded with natural light, and is a go-to for locals wanting to buy locally-grown produce, as well as artisanal cheese, preserves, locally-raised meats, craft beer, and more!

During the holiday season, Le Grand Marché de Québec has a Christmas market, and Santa pops by a couple of times, too. Tip: Arrive hungry and ready to taste some delicious local terroir, too.

Address: 250, boulevard Wilfred-Hamel • Santa’s Schedule: 9:30am-12:30pm

Visit Santa once, or a couple of times! Whatever you decide, spending Christmas in Quebec City can be quite dreamy, especially if we have a big snowstorm and everything is covered in a white fluffy blanket. The weather in December is unpredictable, so packing can be tricky (here are some suggestions), but it’s not as frigid as January and February.
