7 luxury hotels in quebec city to make you gush
fairmont château frontenac
Quite possibly one of the most famous hotels in Canada, Fairmont Château Frontenac sits atop Cap Diamant, overlooking the Saint-Lawrence River and Old Quebec City. A château-style hotel built by the Canadian Pacific Railway, Château Frontenac has been a top hotel since its opening in 1888. The interior is decorated with rich royal blue and brushed gold, a mixture of intricate historical details and modern touches that add to the hotel’s opulence.
Lounge in bed, sip fine wine, and nibble on Quebec cheese at 1608 Wine & Cheese Bar, sip old-fashioned cocktails with a twist at Le Sam, treat yourself to an unforgettable afternoon tea experience, and definitely indulge in a gourmet dinner at Champlain Restaurant. The hotel’s pool, salon and spa are added bonuses.

hôtel le capitole
Hôtel Le Capitole is the newest 5-star hotel in Quebec City. It’s located in Place D’Youville, a public square just outside the old city walls on rue Saint-Jean, known for its performing arts venues. The hotel was renovated in 2018 and reopened in 2019 with 108 rooms spread over three floors atop the historic Le Capitole building. The hotel is welcoming, with a mixture of art deco, art nouveau, and mid-century décor. There’s a pool with a beautiful view of the city, as well as a bar, gym, and two restaurants, IL Teatro and BO Cuisine d’Asie.
Sleep in a cozy bed and enjoy views of Quebec City through floor-to-ceiling windows. Book a room with a soaking tub in the bedroom to give yourself a bump of luxury. The staff here is friendly, and the Clefs d’Or concierge, Francine Asselin, is an absolute gem.

auberge saint-antoine
Auberge Saint-Antoine has been one of our favourite luxury hotels in Quebec City for quite a while. Owned by the Price family, Auberge Saint-Antoine is most famous for its historical artefacts, which are displayed throughout the hotel, as well as its restaurant, Chez Muffy (formerly Panache). Close to the cruise ship port in Quebec City, as well as the Historic District of Old Quebec, Auberge Saint-Antoine is an ideal starting point for a Quebec City vacation.
Sleep in, tour the various artefact displays throughout the hotel, slurp down fresh oysters and sip cocktails in Bar Artefact, and dine on Canadian-inspired dishes in Chez Muffy (most ingredients are grown locally on the hotel’s farm). Oh, and try not to swoon too much if you spot a famous guest in the elevator.

hotel 71
Another one of our favourite luxury hotels in Quebec City, Hotel 71 has a modern contemporary design with velvety ruby red accents. The lobby features a self-serve wine bar (nothing quite like buying a glass of wine and having it automatically added to your room bill!) as well as a boutique that includes Quebec and Canadian-made products.
Wander through their small gallery space to admire pieces by local artists, as well as the stunning pieces displayed in the windows at the entrance of the hotel. Rooms are a good size with velvety ruby red curtains, soft beds, and views of the city as well as the Saint-Lawrence River. Craving Italian food? Matto 71 is located on the hotel’s main floor and serves up some of the best Italian food in Old Quebec City.
